One thing I haven’t had time to test is switching from Embedding the font using the old style TextField and then using code to set the .antiAlias property once the animation is complete. One thing to watch out for though is that TextFields created dynamically in 8.5 default to "anti-alias for readability", and so you have to manually make them old-shool TextFields to avoid this whole scaling glitchyness.
