This week the latest (PSP) firmware update was released for and PSP owners, included in the update was an official version of the Flash Player. Being one of the many UK residents that simply could not wait to get my hands on the PSP. I happen to own a Japanese unit that I had imported; as a result I felt it my duty to install the new firmware.
Over the weekend while researching some bits and pieces I put together a quick that tests the player on the PSP and also displays the values provided by the and properties.
For reference and so you dont have to go and find the . The Values are as follow:
player type =
player version = NF3 6,0,72,27
I assume the player type is undefined. Given that this property is a only available in Flash Player 7, but I thought it worth checking for completeness.
Some useless information about this movie its the first time for me producing an entire flash movie without the aid of the flash IDE. Thats right the whole dawg gone flash 6 file was produced in a and compiled using , drop shadows and all....

I’ve got a UK PSP and it allowed me to do a fireware update the day it came out in Japan.

For some reason your example throws a “There is not enough memory” error.
Is this due to the loaded image?

The Initial file I posted was updated to include images, this indeed was the reason for the out of memory message, I have since updated the file to include a player specific load operation and will be posting the code in a later post.
The example at the location above now does not run into the memory issue.

This new firmware is horrible. I used to be able to play a bunch of homebrew on the older virsion. I updated thinking that I would be able to play flash games online, but every time I try to play a game it says there is not enough memory. Is there any way I can fix that? Or is there any way to get my old firmware back?

Fist of all jake, {removed by BitTube} everyone knows that sony is constantly thinking of ways to block homebrew {removed by BitTube} everyone knows that in about a month there will be a loop hole everyone will get so chill. And there is no way to fix that on a psp, i\\\’m sorry. The real question is will there be an update to the know \”old\” version of macromedia flash because the latest flash player any site uses is Flash 7?
Sincerely
Someone Who Knows More Than Jake

It’s so sad. I also developed a game for PSP. It works almost fine locally now, even though I have to think some solution to the carbage collection, as it only plays 10 cards, and then gets out of memory.
But, I heard that now in PSP they are going to restrict also access to the local files! So you wouldn’t be able to do any flash game, and distribute it to be played locally in the PSP. The internet connection is so slow, you cannot really play any flash games or see videos with the internet connection, as the framerate will be around 0.5 fps…
I am really disappointed that play station portable seems to want to have their machine for only commercial games and movies. What’s the sense in that?!?!

I try to make a several vertions of a flash.exe (swf) in MotionArtist 3.0 at 200kb, 100kb and 33kb won’t play. In other words … we can’t develope .swf to play it in psp. Sad for us… Sony promises fall again.
I update my 1.5 psp to 3.52 for that Sony Flash beta LIE!!
I’m thinking… how I can be see my psp smatch in the ground from a 24 floor building. hmmm is a good idea!
My recomendation is… don’t buy or update a PSP until you see with your own eyes the quality.
