Relative Paths in Flash Using BASE

June 29th, 2006 · 2 Comments

There are many things in flash that have changed and even been lost over the years. One such problem is the issue of pathing for externally loaded assets. Whether XML, Images, SWF's or any number of other content.

In the early days this issue was even more prevalent, with pathing being handled differently across browsers and platforms. For this reason Macromedia (as it was then) implemented the BASE parameter for the embed and objects tags.

Apparently this ever so useful nuggets had almost been lost in the onslaught of flash versions.

full information on its use can be found here.

How about donating a coffee, beer or even a round of beers for my efforts here? Thats around £2.50 for a coffee or a pint or about £10 for a round of beers. Cheers!
